Question
Hello,

My problem is with my common pleco and my gibeceps pleco as well. Like normal pleco's they have ridges protruding out of thier skin. Anyways i've noticed for awhile my common pleco has at the top of his head these same kind of looking ridges but they are out of allignment and are white. They look like they are sticking out but barely. I have currently treated my 50 gallon tank with clout ich/anchor worm parasite treatment. Am i being paranoid here or is ther ecause for concern. There's not enough white spots for it to be ich i don't think and from what i've read up on anchor worm they aren't protruding enough. the gibbeceps has a few of these white things near his head as well. thanks

Answer
Monte,                                                       If the spots start looking fuzzy or stringy I would worry they have a fungus and treat accordingly. Fluke or flatworms usually gather mostly around the gills. They suffocate their prey. Anchor worms are rare in aquariums. They cause sores.... that are red and nasty. If your fish is flashing...(or scratching) I would worry a little, but since you have treated for parasites you should be ok. You know ick looks like salt on your fish. I wouldn't worry too much .
