Question
I was given a 55 gallon aquarium that has several types of chichlids, ranging in size from 1 inch to a very large 9-10" Jack Dempsy. My question is how much food does that big of fish needs? There are a total of about 12 fish. They always seem hungry.

Answer
Hi Sandra,
I have several similar fish and I feed them Tetra Cichlid Sticks.  I give each one about 6 to 7 sticks, once a day.  I also have a much larger cichlid (a 16 inch Wolf cichlid) and for some reason he just loves Wardley Spirulina discs (which are made of algae)!  In fact, he prefers those to anything else.

It is good if they always seem hungry.  Never feed a fish until it is "full".  They should always be a little lean and ready to eat.  They are much healthier that way.  You NEVER see a fat fish in the wild.
