My fish Has a disease and I dont know what it is!

Dear Tina,
I need help fast! A couple days ago I noticed a yellowish, tan looking thing on one side of my balloon molly's gill. it almost looks a little piece of cotton but it is starting to peel on the cotton looking thing. I hasn't gotten any better and I am Worried! i don't want my favorite fish to die! please send a reply soon! If you could, send my a pic of what you think the disease might be please! Oh, and I need a cure for it too!

Tay,                                                         You need to go and get some Maracyn from your petshop. It is made for fungal infections which  is what it sounds like you have.It is 1 packet for every 10 gallons. Take your carbon out of your filter and treat for 7 days. After all this do a 25 % water change and new carbon. You should be ok. Just bare in mind balloon mollies are a deformed breed and their lifespans are not that great. Sometimes you can get 3 yrs out of them , but not always. Good Luck, Tina
