african ciclid injury

I have a male Frontrosa african ciclid that was beat pretty bad by another fish the lump in his head is missing the skin and some flesh.I removed him from the tank but want to know what I can do to help him heal will this heal now that he is iscolated

Hi Travis,
 Time will tell.  Removing him was a good thing to do.  Cichlids are pretty tough and can recover from some pretty nasty wounds.  What will probably happen now is a secondary infection of fungus will set in.  You can treat this with one of the anti-fungal remedies available in most fish stores. I use one called Paragon II but there are others.  Make sure he has very clean water and is not bothered by another fish and then there is a chance he will recover.
