Question
Hi, I've had my feeder gold fish for about 2 years now, but they have slowly died 1 by 1. A few of them got really big and the others just died from not keeping the tank perfectly clean and I didn't have any fish food so I fed them some chinese rice, which made them sick to death..... I no not to do that. Anyway do they need a heater to survive? Or are thewy just feeder fish and they can live in almost any reasonable degree temp.

Answer
Goldfish are cold water fish, they can live at virtually any temperature. 65-74 is ideal.

That really big thing you were talking about is called swim bladder. It is caused, like you said, by poor water quality. 50% water changes at least twice a week in tanks with goldfish.
