gasping for air or food searching

Question
i know you said not to ask about goldfish- but you're the only one who isn't
on vacation or maxed out- so thanks for that! i got two black moor goldfish
tonight, and one seems to always be searching for food at the top of my tank.
he keeps going up there and gasping.  i thought that just meant he was
hungry, but on here it said to be cautious not to over feed. i've never owned
fish before so i didn't know if that was a normal characteristic of fish in
general-the 'searching for food'/'gasping for air'.

Answer
Hi Hayley,
Do you have an airstone going into the tank?  If not, you need one.  Usually when a fish is at the surface it is gasping for air, not food.
