Question
QUESTION: At what age can i expect a male Kadango Borleyi to start showing that he is indeed a male, mine is about 7-8 months old and still shows the colouring of a juvenile.

ANSWER: Hi Bob,
Age is only part of the equation. It also depends a lot on his tankmates.  Are there females in the tank for him to display to?  Are there more dominant males in the tank (that will definitely suppress his desire to display colors)?

QUESTION: My tank is set up for Malawi cichlids,so there are more males, but dont seem to bother him, and there are 2 female kadangos approx. 1 year old he swims around with, at what age do males lose their juvenile state? as i got him from a different source.

Answer
Hi Bob,
I am not sure I understand the situation. Are there other Kadango males or just other male cichlids?

There is no magical age that they change colors. It depends on their social status.  For example, if he never feels dominant, a male might never show adult male coloration.
