Tiger Oscars and filmy eyes

Question
Okay I changed both of my oscars tanks yesterday(55 gal each) and waited for the 12 hours that I was instructed to do so and have done many times, and my Oscars went into shock due to chilly water but pulled through okay. But now they all have a white filmy substance over their eve's and I don't understand why. I did the same things as I have threw out the 8 months of having my four Oscars(which are approximate 10"in in size). They have grown on me like children and I want to find someway to help my little ones. So please help me.......      Thank you Sincerely

Answer
Hi Jeremy,
You should never change all of the water in a fish tank -- is that what you did?  As a rule, change no more than 50% at once to avoid shocking the fish.   When you put in new water, be sure that it is at roughly the same temperature, e.g., about 80oF.

The white film could easily be a reaction to all the cold water and the sudden change in water chemistry.
