coloring fish bowl

Question
i'm having a party w/beta fish as a table display and wanted to know if i could add a drop or two of food coloring in the bowl..it's non-toxic would it hurt the fish or make the bowl pretty?

  A fish is a living organism, not a table display.  It deserves to be
treated with respect.  Please do NOT add food coloring to the water.
