Question
I have recently moved to thailand and would like to get some fish. the problem is i am only here for 18 months. i am getting a fish tank this weekend. I was thinking maybe:
a betta
and a small school (3-6) neon tetras
some weeds
a decoration
and a seperate tank for brine shrimp so i can take them out and feed them to my betta. perhaps my selection is good or you may know of some nice short-lived compatible fish. please email me soon

Answer
Hello Victoria-

Bettas and neons do well together, so do white clouds, danios, etc. Any small schooling fish will do well with a betta; no fin nipping should occur. You may want a cleaner fish to keep algae down, and as for the brine shrimp, great idea! Not many people take the time to grow brine shrimp for their betta.

You could also get a silver shark if you like the look of them, beware though: they are incredibly hyper and are always swimming around. They can get grabby at feeding time, too.

Good luck with your tank!
