Betta loves peas??

Question
I have two bettas currently, One I have had for about 6 months and the other I just got.  They are in tanks all alone the older one is in a 4 l tank and the other is in a 2.5 l tank.  My question in while I feed The rich mix Blood worms and a flake food I decided to throw I cooked peeled pea in as they were acting wierd.  The older betta ignored the pea and the newer one ate the whole pea and eats way less of the other foods.  DO I offer more peas?  he is vibrant in color and very active eats okay ( I feed fairly often and they always eat everything I offer....although they dont like flake food).

Answer
Hello Shannalee-

Peas are great for bettas; they provide fiber and keep the digestive tract very clean. One pea should be good for a day, though - I assume too many can clean the fish out and reduce the adsorption of nutrients. I'd switch to pelleted food, or toss some ants or other live creepy crawlies in for variety. My little guys love ants, they'll literally jump out of the water to snatch them off the tank's edge!

Hope this is helpful,
