Question
have a ten gallon tank just set up two weeks ago (urgently to separate the convicts(pair one female one male each about 2-3 inches) that were killing an oscar) today discovered wigglers (about 100 of them) What do I do now? There are no other fish in the tank (10 gallon) water parameters are pH 6.5 temp 75 nitrites 0 nitrates 0 ammonia 0. Feeding crushed flake food. Plan to set up 125g to move the oscar to, and plan to move the convicts back into the 29g but will be several weeks before the 125g is ready-can convicts wait? Anything special I need to do now? We haven't done a water change yet. Should I do one now? just have a little filter on this tank,but water is crystal clear with great parameters.
Thanks for any information and help!

Answer
Hi Tammy;

The parents may eat the babies when they get bigger or when they lay eggs again. There really isn't much you can do about it since you can't get them another tank for awhile. Unless you know someone else that wants them you are kind of stuck.

I would make a 25% water change at least once a week. If a lot of the babies survive and grow bigger, the tank will be over crowded and get dirty very fast. Do the best you can to vacuum the gravel too. I know it's difficult with babies, but it can be done.

Good luck and I hope all goes well...
