Fish laying eggs

Question
My gold sevrums laid eggs and i believe they are eating them.  I also noticed they are fanning them.  Is it okay to separate the parents from the eggs

Answer
Melissa,

The Severum are actually very good parents. If at all possible, leave the parents with the eggs. Fanning is there way of circulating oxygen through the eggs to keep them from getting fungus on them. If they are eating any, they are the ones that were not fertilized. You will see the female take the fry into her mouth often, but will let them out when she wants to eat. Sometimes first spawner's are a bit out of sorts, but they should do just fine. Are there any other fish in the tank with them? Hope this helps.
