Question
Hello, we have a goldfish 6in long and for some reason he is swimming in one spot near the top and side of the tank???  We want to know if this is ok???  Thanks for your help Molly

Answer
Hey Molly,

He sounds stressed. Turn the lights off for a couple days, and keep a close eye on him. Test the water, and correct any issues that appear in the test. Check him over for signs of infection (fuzzy spots, bumps, sores, couldy eyes, shredding fins, etc) and handle any issues involving physical damage. Personally, I'd attribute the slowness to either nitrite increases in a fatal range, or an internal infection like swim bladder disease (causes swelling, irritation, and inability to keep balance while swimming). If thats the case, pick up medication and begin treatment immediately. Your local petstore can direct you to the best product avalible, if they seem a little "slow" go with tetracycline or coppersafe made by maradel.

Hope this helps! good luck.
