Betta + (bacon grease + Dawn) = Fried Fish?

Last night, I was changing the Betta's water over the kitchen sink when it flipped into a pan soaking in the sink.  The pan  had been used to fry bacon and had water and Dawn dishwashing detergent in it.  I immediately grabbed the fish and flung it into the clean water I had prepared for it.  

Twenty-four hours later, it is still alive, sitting at the surface, exchanging air.  It's fins are clamped and its pectoral fins are moving.  It isn't eating and now there are mucousy strings hanging from it.  

Is there anything I can do to help the poor creature?

Clare,                                                       Take him out put him into a solution of Epsom salt and water 1 tablespoon per 3 gallons.... soak him for about 5 minutes....2 times a day. I know this sound hard , but try to hold him in your hand and rinse him before returning him to a CLEAN tank. Let me know how he does...Good Luck, Tina
