Question
My betta was purchased 2 weeks ago.  At first I had only a small bown but have now purchased a larger vase shaped bowl.  Approx 1 gal NO PLANT.

He appears lively but for the last few days has stopped eating.  I am feeding him Hikari Betta Bio-Gold.  He takes the pellets and appears to chew them round befor ejecting them.

I live on a small island so an alternative food may not be available.

Answer
Hi Christine,

Your betta may find the pellets too hard or large for his mouth. Try crushing them into smaller portions, this way he can more easily chew them and they will take on a bit of water, softening them.

If he still is having trouble after you try that, see if you can get Hikari Betta Bio-Gold Baby Pellets - they're identical in ingredients to the larger version but smaller as they are designed for juvenile fish. If your fish store has the regular size they may have the Baby size.

I hope this helps!
