Healthy fish!

Question
So i had alot of fish in my 10 gallon tank- they died off cause of ick. And the two that survived was my male betta, and my 2-3 inch sucker fish. I used nox-ich for 4 days, and on the 5th day i only used half the dosage amount. My tank is so clean with these two fish, and the betta fins are growing back. My tank and fish really look healthy now. After the fourth day i did a COMPLETE water change. I washed the gravel rocks, and i washed the plants. I took out the LIVE plant cause i thought maybe ICK was living on it? but i read ick is always in your tank!  Is minimal ICK-that I CANT see healthy or normal for the tank? My fish really seem healthy now!! AND i only got one betta fish and ONE sucker fish in there. I was thinking about getting ONE more fish. MAybe another sucker fish- but my tank hasnt produced algea-atleast none i can see, so im feeding him like one algea wafer a week. What sort of fish would you recommend for my tank? Sorry about ALL the questions!

Answer
Hi Ashley,
You should never do a complete water change.  That totally destroys the biological balance of a fish tank.

Ick will always be present at a low level and there is nothing you can do about it and it isn't harmful at low levels.

You need to feed your plecostomus and not just rely on him eating algae. You should feed him at least one algae wafer a day.

As for fish, you might consider adding a tetra or two, something like a black phantom tetra or other larger tetra species. Do not add little tetras like neon tetras -- the betta will likely just attack them.
