Question
QUESTION: I have a four foot fish tank with lots of cichlids in it. Mold started growing on the top glass of the fish tank and the mold was slowly dripping into to the fish tank. I have clean all the mold off the glass but there is still mold on all my ornaments and some of the stones and i cant get it off. I have two good filters and I change 10% of the water weekly.I vacuum the stones every week too.The fish are heathy and none of them have died in ages. what should I do to get rid of the mold growing inside the fish tank.

ANSWER: Hi Josh,
Are you sure it is mold and not green algae?  Algae seems much more likely.  (Mold is very seldom green.  It is more often black).

QUESTION: The mold is dark green and black. so i don't think that it is algae. What should i do if it is mold or algae. does it matter or will it harm the fish?

Answer
Hi Josh,
Lots of algae is dark green and very slick looking.  All you need to do is wipe it off.  It doesn't harm the fish, in fact, many of them eat it.  The only reason to get rid of it is for appearance sake.
