QuestionI have a 75 gallon with a oscar, jack dempsey, and 3 convicts.........the biggest is the oscar at about 4-5 inches. I was thinking of adding a texas cichlid. Would this be too crowded. Also, I saw a Flowerhorn full grown at the LFS. I thought he was very cool. Would a small FH work instead of Texas Cichlids.......I would get another 75 gallon tank down the road in next 2 months......could that FH go with one more fish in a 75 gallon?
Thanks,
James.
AnswerHi James,
Your problem is going to be that as the oscar gets larger, he is going to eat all his tankmates. That is what oscars do
and they are very good at it. An oscar will eventually eat every fish that can fit in his mouth (and he will grow to be over 12 inches in length). He might not do it today or tommorrow, but eventually he will eat them all.
I do not recommend flowerhorns. They are a manmade fish.
