Aggressive Fish???

Unfortunately I do not know the name of the fish, however they are Yellow with black spots, white belly and orange fins.  They are housed in a 55 gallon with community fish.  They have been been together without a problem for several months.  Recently the larger of the two has started to eat away at the other ones tail fin.  At this point the fish has no fin at all, and is still being pecked at.  Can this fish grow a tail fin back if separated and if so will this bigger fish continue this behavior?

Hi Ann,
  The tail can grow back if only the frilly bit is gone. If the damage is down to the fleshy part, the tail will not likely grow back properly if at all.  

  Unfortunately, yes, the bigger fish will likely continue this behavior.
