black spots

could you please help. i have 17 guppies in my tank and have just recently noticed that most of them have perfect black spots on both sides is this a disease or is it just their markings.

Hi Lisa;

If the spots are all in the same place on each fish it's probably their normal coloration. Many guppies do have a black spot on each flank, belly and/or base of the tail. Do an internet search on guppies and take a peek at some images. You will probably find the same thing there.
