Question
My Calico fish has a big tummy.  One side is bigger than the other. It turns when it swims to the side of the bigger tummy.  What does that mean?

Answer
Hi Jennifer;

It's hard to say for sure but it could be a female with eggs. Goldfish females are often a little larger on one side. If the fish seems to feel ill, I would suspect an internal infection instead. You can use an antibiotic from your local fish store to treat it. Or, it could be constipation. Keep your tank very, very clean and feed your goldfish cooked and peeled peas. The clean water helps prevent all diseases and the peas act as a laxative to help with constipation.

If you could tell me more about your tank size, filtration, maintenance schedule, food, etc, I may be able to help you more.
