TB in fish? transferable to humans?

Question
i was browsing a site that said people can get TB from fish tanks if the fish is infected and the person has open cuts on their hands. well i work in a store with a pet department and one of my weekly chores is cleaning the tanks. i have lots of small cuts from stocking shelves. i also have a deep fluidy cough which i thought was just my yearly cold.  should i be worried?  do they mean tuberculosis?  why didnt i hear about this when i learned lizards carry salmonella?  Please answer if you can i am concerned

Answer
Hi Nikki;

You can't contract 'lung TB' from the fish type. It is a different type of bacteria. 'Fish TB', when infecting humans, causes lumps under the skin near the infected area. Here is a very informative article about it;

So don't worry, you just have a cold! If you develop any bumps or lumps under the skin around any of your injuries, or they don't seem to heal properly then see you doctor and bring a copy of that article for them to see.

Hope you feel better soon....
