african cyclid

Question
Yellow african cyclid, 4-5 years old, first when it would go to bottom of tank would go perpendicular to bottom, nose down tail up. It could only remain level at top of tank. Now it's stomach seems to be bloating. It still seems to be hungry and tries to eat but is floundering. Color is still good, scales seem to be fine, eyes are fine. I did water change,added salt, levels seems to be ok other than water reads as hard. Any idea what is going on? Thanks Donna

Hi Donna,
  Sadly it doesn't sound good.  When a cichlid starts to bloat there is very little you can do about it.  There are various medications that claim to help, but I have not had much success with them.  Sorry.
