my crown tail betta fish

Hey.
I noticed a solid white spot around my bettas tail. I started looking more carefully and noticed a couple more around his head. I wanted to know if it has fungus or ick.
- I have him in a 1G bowl. He's very active and beautiful. I just changed his water like last week. I use the water conditioner...

Hello lynn:

Ick normally looks like salt grains on the surface of the fish.  Fungus can either be "true fungus" which has a cotton like appearance or bacterial which often appears "slimy".  If it is ick you can try moving him to a warmer area if possible (if in a tank with a heater I would suggest ~ 84 or so)while using a treatment such as malachite green or copper.
