Question
Hello. I bought my bird a couple months ago. At first I let the bird get use to the it's cage and my living room. I tried to build a relationship with my bird, but I don't know how. When I tried to touch or pet him he will just bite my hand. He seems to be very scared of the HAND. In the morning he's so loud just like an alarm clock and he sometimes whistle a lot. I want to know what are the steps that I need to take inorder to build a relationship with my bird??Please advice me in anyway that I made need. Thanks!

Answer
It's pretty common for them to be a bit afraid of hands.  There are a couple of things you can try to help them get over this.

Try hand feeding them.  Take a piece of millet or another treat, and offer it to him in your hand.

Another thing you can try if he's biting your finger is to cover your finger in  a band-aid, or just ignore him.  He'll realize it doesn't do any good after a while.

Try to take the time to talk to him, and this will help him get used to you.  Biting is usually a phase, and if the bird is less than a year old when you start trying to tame them (the younger the better), they can usually learn to perch on your hand.

Best of luck!
