What happened to our baby?

Question
Very sad this morning as I have just found our little 2 day old baby cockateil dead :-(
Took it out and had a look at it. There was a little bit of blood on the top of its head and on wing area. Have no clue as to what has happened. Both Mum and Dad (although first-timers) seemed to be looking after the baby and eggs wonderfully!
They have about 6 other eggs that they are laying on and not sure what to do if any or all of these now hatch.
Do I step in immediately and take over? Or do I give things another try - and keep a closer eye on all? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,

Answer
Hello Cherie and thank you for your post.
It is possible that there was something wrong with the baby and one or both of the parents killed it.  Birds have an instinct about things like this, and the baby may not have lived.
I would let nature take it's course with the rest of the eggs.  If any more of them hatch, keep a close watch on the babies, and if there is ANY inkling that something is wrong, then you can step in and try to take over.
I am sorry for the loss of this little baby.

Good luck and God Bless.
