Question
I was reading (with great interest) your answer to a girl that was having trouble with her horse.  Partly do to pushing too much on the horse the first time out.  You mentioned Bach's Rescue Remedy - to be put under HER tongue and to be MASSAGED onto the gums of her horse.  What is this?  What is is for?  Where do you get it?  thanks

Answer
Cathy,

Bach's "Rescue Remedy" is a homeopathic flower essence substance that can be found readily on-line or a health food store.  You may be able to find it in a no-name variety cheaper than the true "Rescue Remedy".  I've seen "Flower Rescue" and "Flower Remedy" to name 2.  Same formula just not quite as concentrated so a dropperful is more than the Bach's dropperful but works the same.  Just generally quite a bit cheaper in price. True "Rescue Remedy" runs round $18 a bottle but it lasts a long time.  It's a blend of a number of flower essences and works wonders on overly concerned, nervous, up-tight individuals.  It's a homeopathic remedy and works the same and equally as well on both animals and humans.  I have watched it bring horses out of shock after traumatic injury, used it on one student who used to get stomach cramps from nerves when he started riding.  Talking to one vet who said she recommended it to her clients with dogs afraid of thunder and lightning storms.  It's remarkable stuff.  For long term, like weaning time for one, I just put a couple of dropperfuls into the drinking water.  It just needs to touch the mucous membranes in the mouth.  The blood supply is close there and it goes right into the blood stream.  Under the tongue in people is the recommended method of administration.  With horses I just put it on my right hand and massage it into their gums.  The dropper is glass so you don't want it near their mouth.  Dogs you can drop it into their mouth.

Anyway, Google it and you should find all the information on it.  It's been around for over 150 yrs. so has a well-proven track record.  One of the things I wouldn't be without.  I keep a bottle in the house and one in my workbox that I take with me.  I use it regularly.
