QuestionMY MARE HAS JUST RECENTLY STARTED STOCKING UP, I AM FEEDING HER GOLDEN YEARS FROM EASYKEEPER PELLET, SHE WAS IN PASTURE, AND IS NOW BACK IN A STALL...IT GOES AWAY AFTER SHE HAS BEEN OUTSIDE, THE FEED HAS 14.0% PROTIEN SHE DIDNT HAVE A PROBLEM WHEN SHE FIRST STARTED ON THE GRIAN, COULD IT JUST BE FROM INACTIVITY?
Answerhi joyce, yeah she needs to move around more. her legs need to get circulation. it is better to keep her in a bigger pen that also has a stall so she has shelter. if you can feed her some msm or a joint supplement to help that. also cut down on her grain. it is part of the reason why she is stocking up. run cold water over the legs to help bring them down and try to get the horse out at least an hour or more each day. but best thing to do it give her more room. good luck =)
