how do I stop my horse bucking?

Question
I have had my a 4 year old Welsh cob for six months now, he is really coming along in every aspect apart from canter work.  When ever I ask for the canter transition he bucks although when we are hacking and he is following other horses or goes into canter with out being asked whilst jumping a course he doesn't buck.  What can I do to stop this?

Answer
Hello Racahel,
It is called Nose to Knee.  It is good that you know exactly when he will buck.  Get ready for it next time you ask for the canter and the minute he begins to buck let go your right rein, take your left rein and pull his nose to your knee.  Kick and make him spin around with his nose to your knee until he is dizzy.  Lean back and make sure you don't fall off.  Do this each and every time he bucks.  I don't think he will do it often.

Good luck,
Dorothy
