Question
i just recently bought a 14 year old quarter horse that is blind in her right eye.  Would that cause her to spook a lot and do you think that will keep her good for showing her in western pleasure?

Answer
Jessica,
Yes, being blind on one side can cause a horse to be very spooky on that side, because they can't see what is making a noise, or what "predators" could be out of view.  This does not mean that she can never show, or can't be a good show horse, but it will take alot of work on your part to get her there.  SHe needs to be able to trust you 150%, that you will keep her safe, and protect her from harm, before she is quiet enough under saddle to be shown.  SHe may still be spooky at the shows, because it would be new, unfamiliar territory.
