Accidental breeding

Question
I have a mare that was bred unplanned by a stud, that belongs to the owner of a property where she was kept.  This woman is now coming to me wanting 1/2 the stud fee for a pregnancy that was accidental.  According to her, the two horses "got out" of their pens and were found loose together.  I don't feel that I should be held responsible, seeing as I now have vet bills and a foal on the way to financially support.  I was under the understanding that my horse was kept on her property, with her fencing and her stud, so that would make me less liable in this matter.  Do you have any suggestions of websites or people to get in contact with that could help me resolve this issue?

Answer
Dear Andrea,
First off you should find another place to board your mare, make sure you keep your recipts from the stud's owner to verify her pregnancy and that your mare was there at the time of pregnancy. Get a written statement from the vet saying how many months she was pregnant and where she was when she was pregnant.
After you get enough proof tell her you will not pay the fee because you are not liable, And if she decides to take you to court you are ready. You could even take her to court for this incident if you really wanted to.
