Question
Hi my name is Taylor. I am 13 and am a part of the Coaldale Equestrian 4-H Club. This is my first year. It's that time where all horse 4-H members pack up and head to Claresholm, Alberta for our annual Regional 4-H horse show. Well my horse Max and I are competing in a showmanship class. It's my first time and i'm clueless on how to ready Max and myself. I want to be able to do good. So if you have any tips or any advise, it will be greatly appreciated. If possible, please reply fairly soon because I will be away on vacation in about 12 days and regionals is like the 5 days after i get back. So i'm pretty pushed for time. Also bareback riding tips are needed to for i am in atleast a half a dozen events which require bareback riding skills. Ya any information on western pleasure or anything that you think might help me will be greatly apprecciated. Thnkx Taylor

Answer
Hi Taylor :)
I have some websites for you to look at...the first one is kind of a checklist an it tells you exactly what you need to do to get ready for showmanship. http://www.oznet.ksu.edu/pr_eyas/showmans.htm
Bareback is pretty simple. You just hold on with you knees, thighs, and butt haha.
Here is a good website on western pleasure.

I hope these help you :) Please let me know how you do at your show :)
