Question
if you found one at a lake and have had it in a tank for about a month, is it safe to release it back to that same lake now. will it be okay and make it or is it better now just to keep and and get the tank and lighting, etc. that it needs?

Answer
Hi Neoma,

If you've only had the turtle for a month, and *it hasn't come into contact with any captive turtles*, I think it's safe to release it.  If it was housed in a tank with captive turtles, then unfortunately it's not wise to release it because of the risk of introducing pathogens to the native populations.  Hope this helped!
