Answer
Hi Nicky,

The most important factor determining the social and emotional health of a sugar glider is for her to have a companion of her own kind.  If you are considering getting sugar gliders, you should get at least two.  It is best to get litter mates.  That way you don't have to deal with introductions.

You are correct.  Diet is extremely important to a glider's physical health.  There are several acceptable diets around.  My gliders have been healthy for seven years on BML, fresh fruits and veggies, and occasional meal worms and crickets.  If you don't have the recipe, you can find mine on my website:  nc.sugar.gliders.googlepages.com

Gliders do need lots of room to bounce around in.  My cages are built for iguanas and are about 5' high and 2 1/2 feet square.  Bigger is better for sugar gliders.

Please go to sugar-gliders.com for some good information about sugar gliders and their care.

Good luck, please keep me informed.
