Question
hi, i talked to you before about my ball python.
im curious to ask what my snake is doing.
he comes out of his hide at 7 at night and goes crazy all over his enclosure to get out and is very hyper even when i take him out to explore and expend some energy.
i tried twice now to feed him a frozen thawed rat which is all hes ever eaten but he just ignores it.
i thought him roaming so much was becus hes hunting but he wont take the rats.

Also if hes on my bed, sometimes he will slither to the edge and lift himself up acting like a cobra and looks around. he will do this and not move for a full minute.

any adivse on feeding and why hes so active and why he does the cobra thing(which he only does at the end of my bed)

thanks for your help
sam

Answer
I too believe your snake is hunting during the periods of activity.  Perhaps he doesn't recognize the frozen thawed rats as food.  Has he eaten them before?  If not, try a live rat during the active period or even a mouse.  As to the "periscoping" many snakes do that-holding it for a minute is bit weird but whatever.  He's perhaps looking for a way off the bed???
