Question
I have just taken a bearded dragon from my mate who couldnt give a crap about his beardey. He has had it for 4 months and hasnt grown one bit proberly from the lack of feeding and good care.Since i have had it there is no motovation towards basking, eating, drinking and it has tail rot and i am quite worried.Im trying to feed with syringe and spraying and bathing the lizard and its surroundings to incourage it to drink but nothing.I also have gone out and bought the correct treatments to treat it and hopefuly to sort out the tail rot cause i have had some expirence as my bearded dragon had the top of its tail chewed and went throught the same problem. Both mine and my mates bearded dragon were bought on the same day from diffrent shops but the same size and mine has really got big but the other is the same size and that is my main concern why wouldnt it of grown even with poor feeding ther should of been some growth, any ideas

Answer
Hi Ricky:
It is sad to think of but there is a point that when reached, a reptile resigns itself to dying and little can be done to alter the outcome. The best bet at saving your foundling is to take it to a vet, there are vitamin shots that may give it the will to live. I wish I could see it but I am not a Vet. and my knowledge is limited, I work with snakes.
I know it is going to cost you a few dollars no matter what route you take but maybe some Vet. will take pity on a sick animal, call a few and explain the situation.
The real problem lies in two places.
1st. the store that sold the animal should be shut down, they could care less as to a persons qualifications or ability, they want the cash and too hell with the animal. Excuse me but I get very irritated at this subject.
2nd. Is your friend, he thought it would take care of itself, if that animal should die, I would bring it to him and shove it in his face, if he has any heart at all, he will reaolize what he has done and hopfully it wont happen again.

Either way, the job now rests in your lap, please do what you can and understand you are not the one at fault, just give it the best chance possible and good luck.

If you think of any other way I may be of service, please let me know.
                       Good luck
