green anole lizard

Question
I have a small green anole lizard for a few months now.  he was pouncing on crickets right away as i put them in the tank every day.  I gave him a few mealworms as a treat and now he no longer seems interested in the crickets at all and will only pounce on the mealworms (again within seconds of dropping them in the tank).  Even tried not feeding at all for 2 days and then only the crickets, but he's not interested???  i guess i could feed only the mealworms, but care sheets seem to suggest vitamin dusted gut-loaded crickets are a better food.  Any ideas or suggestions?

Answer
I'm glad you've read care sheets--I assume, then, that you have correct temperatures, and UVB lighting?

Make sure that the crickets are small enough--they should be no bigger than the space between the anole's eyes.  The mealworms won't do him any harm--you can gut-load and dust those as well (and you should).  They are a bit less nutritious than crickets, but if he wants to binge on them for a while, it's not an issue.

Try offering crested gecko diet in a small elevated cup, as well.  Some anoles love sweet things like fruit puree, and may accept the CGD, which would be a good addition to their diet.
