Question
I have found a lizard with a broken leg.I live in Southern California it does have a blue belly, but it doesn't really look like the ones I see on wixpedia. What do I feed him and will his leg heal? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Austin

Answer
I can't really tell you what it is without seeing a picture. It may be some species of Spiny or Fence lizard. I can't tell you what to feed it unless I know what it is, but a wild lizard with a broken limb and being held captive is probably not going to show interest in eating. That will just make a bad situation worse.

Regardless, you should be trying to get it into the hands of a reptile vet or wildlife rehabilitator to save it's life. I know that in California it is against the law to keep or rehabilitate native wildlife without permit, so I suggest you find an animal rescuer/rehabilitator who will know what to do. You can't fix his leg yourself, and it won't heal itself. If it is not taken care of by a vet or rehabilitator, then loss of blood to the limb will result in the leg turning necrotic, falling off, and/or getting infected...which will probably be fatal eventually. He needs professional help. See the listings in the link below for the nearest rescue or herpetological society. Worst case scenario, you can contact me, and I will instruct you how to ship the lizard overnight and I will see that it gets vet care. I am the founder of Wichita Falls Reptile Rescue:
