Corn Snake respiritory infection

Question
I've got a corn snake with a respiritory infection, at least i think so, his symptom seem to mach up, laboured breathing, discharge from the nose, lethagic (though he is in the middle of a shed). He last ate on the 14th and I've noticed no decline in hs appitite, he's a little pig when it comes to food. He is due another meal tonight but I m unsure abut feeding while he is pooly.

I've raised te temperature f his enclosure (as suggested by various online resourses) but i was wondering if i could book an appointment, if treatment would be recomended and what the cost of tht would be?

He's going through his 4th shed with me, but he's still a little guy so I'm quite worried.

Kind regards,
Sally Lawrence

Answer
Hi Sally-
Although I have never kept snakes I have read enough on the various snake forums to know that a RI is not something to take lightly in any snake and it often requires an antibiotic to treat it

I would agree that you need to get him/her into see a vet and I honestly have no idea what the cost might be

Depending upon the area of where you live-finding a Herp vet locally
might be difficult

I would look in the Yellow Pages and see who you have to choose from and start making phone calls and if you are fortunate to have a few to choose from-see if they know what they are talking about with an RI in snakes and go from there

Good Luck with your snake
