Bearded Dragon continued

At Petco someone who has worked with reptiles for 20 years said an undertank heater or a heaqt rock was needed for digestion.  All i have heard is that they can burn the animal and if you get a undertank heater to put it on the side.  what is your input on this?

Hello Travis,

Well, it depends on the type of reptile.  Geckos have heat sensors on their tummy while other reptiles don't.  Bearded dragons don't hve heat sensors on their bellies which means they can get burned by undertank heaters or heat rocks especially.
Geckos need underbelly heat for digestion while bearded dragons need overhead heating for digestion.
