Question
I have a giant African land snail which I have had for over 2years, but i get fruit flies quite badly too. i have been told that skinks are good at keeping the fly population down and that i should keep it in the vivarium with the snail. is it ok to keep the two together and if so which skink would be the best? the vivarium is 18x18, thank you in advance

Answer
In small habitats like a home enclosure I would never mix species.  If the fruit flies are your only complaint, I would get a plastic bottle like a soda bottle, cut it in half and put some apple cider vinegar inthe bottom then insert the top upside down in the bottom.  This is an easy fruit fly trap.  Change the apple cider every week or if there's a coating of fruit fly bodies in the liquid.
