Throwing up

Hello Tracie,
My boyfriend and I have a Bearded Dragon named Fonzie. Today we bought Fonz a new water dish and he jumped in and drank a lot of water and then played around. But after a couple of minutes he began acting weird and then puked up what looked like water, and his beard and sides turned completely black. We have seen his beard turn black before but not his sides and I was wondering if that was a sign of any problems or if the puking was a problem. Thank you for your time.

Hello Samantha,

It sounds like Fonzie inhaled or swallowed water the wrong way.  He could have aspirated some into his lungs possibly.  That sometimes happens when they drink too much or too quickly.
For a few days keep his tank around 75 or so overnight to help his immune system out to discourage a respiratory infection from developing in case he did get some fluid in his lungs.
