Housing leopard geckos

Question
I have two female leopard geckos, one is about 4 years old,
and the other is about 9 months.  Right now they are housed separately, but I am moving soon and will no longer have the
room for 2 tanks.  I have a 29 gallon long tank that I was
hoping to move them both in to once my 2nd gecko is fully
grown and need some help with how to introduce them.  I'm
worried about them fighting.  Will they be ok to be housed
together? And how should I introduce them in a way that they
can get used to each other without fighting?
Thanks.

Answer
Hello Melissa,

You are doing the right thing in waiting until your second gecko is full grown.  Otherwise, she could get picked on even though they are both female.  It is good you are worried about them fighting, because they can & will fight sometimes.  Some get along fine while others just do not for some reason.
Have they seen each other yet?  You could try to "introduce" them casually one evening, if someone else could hold one while you hold the other.
It does make it a little harder since they will not have grown up together.  You will just have to try to gradually introduce them, carefully & incrementally so they get used to each other.
You will initially have to watch them for aggressive behavior once you do put them in together.  They may end up being perfectly fine being housed together.
A 29 gallon tank is plenty large for 2 leopard geckos.
