Question
QUESTION: sorry about all the emails! His UVB lamp ia a Repti-glow 8.0 Exo-Terra 18"/43.74cm and the other buld in the same fixture is a Exo-Terra 10.0 Repti-glow UVB 13w coil bulb.(I got the fixture this way)  and his heat source is a Exo-Terra Sunglow 100w. I don't know how old they are so I am going to buy new ones. They might be over 6 month old but I don't know.(better safe then sorry) should I try to get him to drink sugar water? if so how cause he will not open his mouth(he does look a bit deyhderated) but he will not eat anything(crickets or veggies/fruit)
thanks

ANSWER: Hello Krissi,

Ok, the Reptiglo 8 is ok since it is a tube bulb.  I would recommend a Reptisun 10 tube bulb, it is the best tube bulb here in the US.  Steer away from the Reptiglo 10 tube as it has been associated with eye problems & other health issues.
The Sunglow is fine for the basking light.

Keep me posted on him.

QUESTION: ok thank you, I don't know how old the bulb is, I just got him about 1 month ago and the light came with him so I am getting a new one. he seems ok right now still alert. everynight I put some salve on him to it doesn't dry up. I have been keeping it really clean and have been giving him lots of sugar water baths, I got him to drink a little sugar water out of a seringe. he now basks in the sun in the window for most of the day. thanks for all your help! I have found a exotic pet vet a wase away but I am going to call them in the morning, it is past 1:00am here, I have been up trying to figure this out. I am going ino town to see if I can find some new bulbs tomorrow, I will keep you updated. if you think of some more things I can try please tell :) thanks

ANSWER: Hello Krissi,

How are things going today?
So you found an exotic vet huh that is great. How far away is he?
You can order the Reptisun 10 tube fluorescent bulb on  www.petmountain.com   It is much cheaper online than in the pet stores.
Are the baths helping with the swelling at all?  Continue with the baths if you feel that they are helping.  Definitely keep the area clean & moist so it doesn't dry out.  I really hope that he is going to be ok.
Let me know how things are going.

QUESTION: Hello, the swelling has gone down a pile! he still has not ate anything for along time, He sometimes has little poohs and pees. I think the vet is a few hours away, I need to call them this morning. I also found a vet a bit closer but I am not 100% sure that they will take reptiles, I found one of those exotic vet finders and a local vet came up but I went on there website and it says nothing about treating reptiles. But I am going to call them first just to make sure. I definitely think the baths are helping. It doesn't look nearly as bad as it did before. during the day now he is usually either in the bath, sitting in the window sill sucking up the sunshine or sitting on his warm water bottle.
thanks for your help!

Answer
Hello Krissi,

How are things going?  Do you have a picture of him?
Wow, I hope you find a vet.  Have you tried this site:
www.herpvetconnection.com

I hope that the sugar soaks are helping him out some.
How often are you giving calcium?  How is his appetite?
Did you order the Reptisun 10 fluorescent tube bulb yet?

I hope that he is doing better.  Please keep me posted on him.
