Rabbits in Winter

Question
Hi. I was wondering how I can make my two rabbit's winter easier for them? I have a brown female dwarf and a huge grey male. They are housed separately in outside NIC condos that me and my mom made. The dwarf is in a NIC condo with one shelf to jump on (can't really jump high) and the male is in a NIC condo with three levels (loves to jump)exactly like Princess Blackie's. They both have carpet and at night I cover the condos with a bed sheet to protect them from the wind. I've also provided extra hay for the male (I only have one hay rack at the moment.) I change their litter boxes once every two-three days. I change their water bowls twice a day. I also give them 1/4 of a cup of pellets once in the morning and 1/4 of a cup of pellets in the night(1/2 cup of food each). They also have their own pillow and stuffed animals to snuggle up to. I've been getting worried that this might not be enough to help them during the winter since it's been starting to rain. The usual temperature in the mornings are around 50 degrees and in the afternoons it's about 60-70 degrees. Are there other things I can do to help keep them warm in the winter? Or is there any changes I can do to make them happier or to make their lives better? Please answer back!

P.S. I vacuum and clean their condos once a week while they have full run of the house (separate rooms of course. Don't want any babies!)

Answer
It sounds like they are living good right now. I wouldn't change anything, but the amount of food you are feeding the male and to give hay to the female, even if it means laying it on the floor of her pen. A large rabbit should be fed at least an ounce of pellets per pound of body weight daily or just a bit less according to if he eats it all or leaves some after the night. Rabbits injoy cooler temperatures a lot more than hotter temps, mainly because they are soo suseptible to heat. Heat is deadly if too warm and they have no way to get cool.
