Two Male and One Female Mini rex

Question
We have two male Mini Rex rabbits and we were thinking about purchasing a female as well.  My question is will it be ok for the female to be in the cage with two males? Will that cause problems or anything of that sort? What do you think would be the best for this situation?

Answer
Hi McKenzie

Each rabbit will need its own cage.  Unless your males are still really young I am surprised they haven't been fighting already.  Introducing an intact female is going to cause major fights.  If you want to get all 3 of them fixed then you can properly bond them.  It is really hard to bond males even if they are neutered and putting a female in there is just going to cause problems.

Honestly unless your rabbits are already neutered I would separate them.  They shouldn't be together longer than 12 weeks.

If you are planning on breeding them you want to know the exact date that they were put together so that you can prepare for the babies.  This is why it is really important to keep them separate.

Please let me know your intentions and I will try to help you.  If you are planning on breeding them tell me what varieties the bucks are and I will tell you the best combination to breed with.

If they are just going to be pets then please don't put them together until they are fixed.

1.  What are your intentions?
2.  Are the bucks already neutered?
3.  Do you plan on having the doe spayed?
4.  If you plan on breeding or showing what color are the bucks?

If you can answer these questions I will try to help you out.

Here is an awesome site on bonding rabbits.  It should help you to understand more.
