Question
i have a male neutered...i read indeed to clean these?!? he is a  rescued rabbit, now a house rabbit and doesn't like being handled so i respect this how do i do this without upsetting him.ididn't know they had scent glands. help!

Answer
Dear Carol,

Unless he has really nasty, gooey, infected scent glands, I would not bother them.  I've found that you can actually generate more problems by cleaning the glands than by letting the bunny take care of them himself.

Give them a look (they are the little pockets on either side of his fuzzy prepuce between his hind legs), and see if they have a lot of buildup.  If it's just a little, dark plug of wax, or a covering of crust, then I wouldn't mess with it.

I hope that helps.
