Rabbit (Doe) eating her young

Question
We just got a Dutch Dwarf rabbit, didn't know at the time if she was a male or female. This past Saturday she gave birth to 3 babies. Today Tues. morning when I went to check on her and the babies 2 were gone, I have looked everywhere thinking they might have gotten or falling out of the cage, I can't find them anywhere. So now I am guess she ate 2 of them? I am wondering what she will do with the one left? will she also eat this one or take care of it. Why do they eat their babies? My rabbit is young I know when we got her we were told she was a little over 4 months, and wirh all I have read I didn't think she could be pregant but I guess she was. Is the reason she did this because she is so young or did she feel that maybe the 2 she either ate or they dispeared were to weak to raise? When she had them she did all the things she was suppose to so why now did she kill/eat them? Thanks, Kelly

Answer
hi kelly -this is typical of young does -they get frightened and really dont know what is going on and so they kill the babies.keep a good check on the existing one but she may well kill it as well.
you can breed with her when she is older say 7 months and all should be ok.
