Bald Spot over Bunnys Eye

Question
Hello Dana!!

I have 2 rabbits. On my lop I have noticed that there is a bald spot, (in a circle shape) above her eye. On the bald spot it looks like there are 2 pink scratches (very small), like a scab that has been healed, and it looks like there is a slight  bruise under the skin.  I noticed it on Monday and the scratches had more of a scab on them. They have pretty much healed since then, just the bruise coloring under the skin and pink scratches. I can not find ANY other signs of mites or any skin irritations on her. I have been doing ALOT of research and i don't believe its mites, I believe that my other rabbit is nibbling on her head. (the other is female as well) Do you think this is the case? Is my dwarf doing this to hurt the lop? How can i get her to stop doing this?? Do you know of any over the counter meds i can put on the spot? I have a photo if you would like to see it. Any help would be great. Thanks so much!

Answer
Dear Kelly,

This sounds a bit like a spot of overgrooming by the bunny's partner.  But to be sure, please see:

If this is the problem, it's not anger, it's just boredom/neurotic behavior.  Providing the bunnies with more toys and more free running time will usually stop this problem.

I hope this helps.

Dana
